The company was established in 1947 as Dai-ichi Advertising. It assumed its present name of I&S BBDO in 1998, when it became a member of BBDO Worldwide. Ever since, it has provided strategic advertising and marketing services through utilizing knowledge and experience it has fostered in Japan and exploiting the accomplishments and know-how so far accrued in its global network.

In 1891, a small agency named Batten Company opened in a single room on Park Row in New York City.In subsequent years, it thrived, and in 1928, merged with Barton, Durstine and Osborn.Thus, BBDO was born. Today, BBDO Worldwide is 15,000 people in 289 agencies across 81 countries.
